Can I drill a hole in a stone with an SDS rotary hammer drill?
I want to make a hole, maybe 3 / 4 "or less and two to two and a half inches long, in a loose stone, probably less than four inches thick and a foot in diameter. I have said an SDS rotary hammer drill with a carbide tip is the way to drill a hole in the rock, but I have no idea how this device works with a name like "rotary hammer" It makes me wonder if I could used safely and effectively in a small stone in a press (as opposed to a gigantic rock, immobile). Does this device work like a jackhammer or is primarily rotational motion?
1) A hammer drill is a regular exercise that also has a pulsing action of the drill. Something like 60x per second, hammers and broken. Usually it is the "tool for drilling in masonry, but I propose to his little stone will be decimated by this action. 2) Use a good regular drill, corded, for the pair, instead of a battery one.
