Various positions at Schlumberger?
I have a second interview with Schlumberger engineering experience, and want to choose the 4 segments that prefer work, and 4 points for each. AD & M B-CD-cable artificial lift and mail service testing what are your thoughts on each one or the pros and cons of each? and do you have any idea about the difference in pay, working hours, faster to excel in management? and what are the pros and cons of offshore drilling and coastal drilling?
They want to choose 4 areas of work of 5? Strange ... As for locations, it is entirely up to you. I would not recommend Nigeria or Libya, unless it is very brave. 'Peach' places the Philippines, Dubai, Bolivia. It depends on how much money we want to address the quality of life you want (each country has a multiplier of salary, as JLE in evaluating the difficulties of living there, varying between 1.0 - to places like Paris or Rome - to 1.7 - in places like Libya or Tierra del Fuego). Obviously, generally more than one characteristic: the less another. The places I mentioned are some of the best combinations of pay and living conditions that I know in the world of Schlumberger. Wireline is the "elite" of Schlumberger. It is difficult but rewarding. This is a 3-month in intensive training course before starting work as an apprentice () engineer field. You do not get much free time, but you will have a lot of money to spend on the little time you get out. Not quite sure what area D '& M' is. Did you mean maybe "E & M '(Engineering and Maintenance) or" R & D (Research and Development)? As for the progression to management positions, which depends on you. If you are very ambitious and really want to "climb the ladder," VMS is quite fast in the promotion of its employees. It really can be "life in the fast lane", so to speak, if you want it that way. VMS has traditionally had a policy "promotion from within ', so that virtually every line-manager, marketing manager, coach, trainer, recruiter and well successively started as lowly field engineer (including long-term CEO until recently, Euain Baird, whom I had the privilege of meeting a couple of times). About the only field where people are recruited from outside the company's accounting department (and the local field workers and secretaries, etc.). Work in high sea or land? It is normally not up to you, anyway. VMS forward its decision to send to you, regardless of personal preference. And some places are mainly offshore work, some predominantly in the earth, some a mixture of both. In general, the offshore work means more time on the platform, as they are a somewhat limited in terms of accessibility and location on earth, you can travel to and from the platform in shorter waiting idle. However, work the land can be much more intensive: you can call anytime, day or night at any time (almost everywhere in the world, helicopters not flying to offshore platforms in the dark). At work at sea in general is less complicated: it is not necessary to drive the platform at any time, facilities are normally better at sea etc.
