Concrete drilling?
Can anyone help - been using a Bosch 24v hammer drill to try to make some holes 6 mm in the walls of my garage precast concrete, but only seems to have forever! They've done powder 3 titanium Coated Drill bits masonry to do the work (which seem to be quite hot to maintain the break to let them cool). Have tried various speeds and also tried to work the size up to 3 mm, but it seems to help. Am in this repulsive or is the most concrete, known to man? O) managed to make the first, but the screw head sheared off when I tried support putting up - D'oh! I figured I did not deep enough holes.
Precast concrete is generally very difficult to work with due to the type of mixture used to make them, and generally have more time to heal. What we are experiencing is very typical and advice they gave me was to go slowly and try not to overheat the bit. Furthermore, Tapcon screws (if using) are a great investment too. You can get most, if not all major home stores.
